Music is one of many reasons people come to church. At Trinity, we do a variety of music.
Our hymnbook, called Evangelical Lutheran Worship, is filled with songs that are familiar to many as well as songs from all over the world, most of which are new to us here in Vermillion. It is our job to learn these new songs, as we are always worshipping with people from another place.
Special musical groups:
Adult Choir: This group is for anyone 9th grade and up. The only requirement is that you like to sing! We meet at various times in the church year. We meet Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall.
Golden Voices: This group is for anyone in grades 3-8. We meet on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:00 PM. The first 15-20 minutes are for snack and checking in with each other, after which we practice singing. We sing a variety of songs, learn things about worship, and sometimes work on memorizing hymns. We sing once or twice a month in worship and also assist in worship from time to time.
Sunday School: The entire Sunday school sings in church about once a month. In December, they usually do their Christmas program as the sermon during worship. Everyone loves to hear the children sing in worship.
"Contemporary" Music: From time to time, we get together whomever would like to come to learn music for worship that is done by current Christian music groups. Sometimes we end up having every musical group participate, sometimes we use guitars and drums, sometimes other auxilliary percussion. Whatever we do, we praise the Lord with our singing.
If you have musical skills that you would like to offer to assist us in worship, we would love to have you! Please contact Christy Kimball, our Director of Music, Worship, and the Arts, at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the church office at 624-4442 and leave a message.
