Health Information Web Sites for non-medical consumers

The Cleveland Clinic is an excellent site. It is easy to navigate and the information is provided in terms that laypersons can understand. http://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/default.aspx

The Mayo Clinic site is a good site. Individuals seeking information need to be a bit more savvy in searching around the web site for their information, however, once located the information is presented in layperson terminology. An added bonus is the “symptom checker,” where a person who is experiencing discomfort can try to narrow what may be the cause. http://www.mayoclinic.com/

Webmd is a very general site. The information on this site is reliable and is linked to other health care sites, for example, Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic. http://www.webmd.com

The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System web site is the least user friendly. The information is presented at a higher reading level, so it may be somewhat challenging to comprehend. http://www.hopkinshospital.org/health_info

For questions or more information you may call the church office at 605-624-4442 or Marcy Lund at 605-624-8706.
